Growing the Future - 5K Students Plant Trees in Honor of Arbor Day

5K students from Westside Elementary School helped Holly Femal and Lee Hammen from the Village of Kimberly with a special Arbor Day project. The students helped plant 50 white cedar trees at Van Daalwyck Park. Mr. Hammen, as a naturalist by trade, taught students about the species they were planting, how to care for them and why they are important to have in the park. The trees will be a great addition to the community and will provide many benefits to people and wildlife alike.

At the tree planting event, the Village of Kimberly was recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation for celebrating their 31st Year as a Tree City USA.
Great job Westside Eagles for displaying our Community Value of Respect by caring for the environment!

Years from now, just imagine how big the trees they planted will be when they visit the park!
