Intermediate School Students had a Great Trip to the Dominican Republic!

Collage of photos from the trip.

Students from both Woodland and Mapleview Intermediate Schools recently participated in a school trip to the Dominican Republic. Organized through the World Studies department, students, teachers and chaperones immersed themselves in the local culture. They visited the Dominican capital of Santo Domingo, toured a variety of historic caves and sites, and visited local artisans.

The group had fun at the beach and went on an eco-adventure where they zip lined and learned about local wildlife. They even had the opportunity to interact with squirrel monkeys. Participating students spent the last two years fundraising in order to help offset the cost of their trip. Many thanks to teachers Emily Berndt and Nate Cook for organizing, as well as the many parents who helped with fundraising and were chaperones on the trip.
