Letter from Superintendent Mayfield

Letter from Superintendent Mayfield

Dear KASD Families,

As we prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, I want to thank you for your patience. We continue to navigate the uncertainty and frequent changes in recommendations for the reopening of our schools.  It is important to us that your needs are considered and that we develop a plan that provides multiple instructional opportunities for families.  Planning is not easy and opinions vary greatly.

The Kimberly Area School District will be opening schools in the fall. Based on the preliminary survey results, a majority of our families want to have in-person instruction. However, for those who want to have their child learn from home, we will also be offering a virtual learning option.

In August, we will ask you to make a formal selection of the instructional model you prefer for your child(ren). Classroom placement and teacher assignments will be determined and announced after selections have been submitted by all families.

There are many questions related to the start of the school year and changes occur frequently.  I am unable to provide answers to all of your questions, unfortunately.  Please trust that we are working every day to prepare a safe experience for your children and our staff, and that we will provide detailed information later this summer.

Until then, enjoy the summer sunshine.

Robert S. Mayfield, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
