Originally the district offered parents and students the opportunity to switch to online instruction at any time. As the district continues to respond to changing conditions, that approach must be adjusted.
Beginning on October 12, 2020 students will be allowed to switch into online learning only at the Quarter mark. Parents should give at minimum a two week notice of their intention so that the district has time to prepare.
- Start of Quarter 2: Friday, November 6, 2020 (Requests must be received by October 23)
- Start of Quarter 3: Monday, January 18, 2021 (Requests must be received by January 4)
- Start of Quarter 4: Tuesday, March 23, 2021 (Requests must be received by March 9)
There are two reasons for this change. First, space in the online program is becoming very limited, and we can no longer support continual and ongoing changes. Secondly, students switching at random times are experiencing too great a disruption in their learning experience. For the sake of the students’ learning, it is better to switch at a defined stopping point like quarter/semester.
As has been the case since the start of the school year, students are allowed to switch back to in person learning at the beginning of the quarter only. We thank everyone for your understanding as we continue to balance the safety of our community with the high quality learning experience we have here in Kimberly.
