DECA Students Earn Success at State Conference

KHS Student

Taylor Peterson will serve as Wisconsin DECA Vice President for the 2022-2023 school year.

Two years ago, while DECA students were at the state conference, COVID cancellations started. This year, the opportunity to return to an in-person conference has been a welcomed opportunity for DECA members across the state. Approximately 1,500 DECA students from over 100 schools throughout Wisconsin attended the state conference. Of the 21 students who represented Kimberly High School, 13 advanced to the International Career Development Conference (ICDC). ICDC will be held April 23-26 in Atlanta, Georgia.

DECA is an international marketing and business association for college and high school students. DECA provides opportunities for its members to learn more about careers in marketing and business and gain vital career skills.

Senior Brynn Malcomson has competed at every level of the DECA competitive events cycle. She earned her way to the international conference as a freshman, had her KHS DECA Teamopportunity to compete sophomore year canceled and competed virtually last school year. She is excited to compete in person again this year.

"DECA SCDC is such an incredible opportunity to learn new leadership skills, meet new people, and compete in fun events," said Malcomson.

Junior Taylor Peterson was elected to the Wisconsin DECA Leadership team at the conference.

"Since joining DECA my freshman year, I have set my sights on becoming a state officer," said Peterson. "Now given the opportunity, I am beyond excited to serve Wisconsin DECA and encourage members to grow both personally and professionally."
