Kimberly High School (KHS) students recently participated in the 50th annual State Leadership and Skills Conference (SLSC). The competition occurred over two days, on Tuesday, April 25th, and Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. SkillsUSA is a national organization that promotes leadership and technical skills among students in various career and technical education fields. The State conference is a showcase of career and technical education students, and more than 2,000 individuals, including students, teachers, and industry partners, are expected to participate in the event. Competitions were held in a wide array of skill sets, including Architectural Drafting/CAD, Automotive Service Technology, Cabinetmaking, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Masonry, Robotics and Automation, Welding, Woodworking, and dozens more. Several KHS students placed in the final competitions. Notably, first-place wins included the fabrication team, Eli Gerner, Gavin Vander Velden and Cody Hagglund, and Luke Mohr in machining. KHS students Tyler Carpenter and Evan Stanislawski also placed second in Masonry and Machining. Congratulations to the below students for placing and participating in this year's competition!
