Through a blend of creativity, leadership, and community engagement, the JR Gerritts Middle School (JRG) Student Council has secured the Spirit of Excellence award with its compelling portfolio and setting a high standard for middle schools across Wisconsin. Their exceptional work was entered into a competition hosted by the Wisconsin Association of School Councils (WASC), clinching victory at both regional and statewide levels for the best portfolio in the middle school category. The portfolio captures the vibrant life and positive activities within our school walls and showcases the scope of our community's spirit.
Students were recognized on-court at the Milwaukee Bucks game on March 4th. This recognition is a testament to our collective commitment to excellence, embodying our district's values of kindness, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Congratulations, Gators!
The Spirit of Excellence is a portfolio put together by student body leaders to highlight the activities that their school offers to the entire student body and community. Each year, the Spirit of Excellence Award is given to six Wisconsin schools, one in each region, that demonstrate excellence in leadership development, sportsmanship initiatives, school spirit, and service to school and community. It is presented jointly by a selection committee consisting of members from WASC, Wisconsin Association for Middle-Level Education, AWSA, Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators, Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association, and the Milwaukee Bucks. From the pool of regional winners, one school is selected as the state winner.
