For the fourth year in a row, Kimberly High School (KHS) has been recognized as a Level 1 Advanced Placement Pacesetter School by the Wisconsin Advanced Placement Advisory Council (WAPAC). Of the 517 public high schools in Wisconsin, KHS is one of only 23 to be recognized with a Level 1 Pacesetter Award.
There are many benefits to taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams while in high school, such as higher level learning, exposure to new subjects and developing educational skills that help students while they pursue further education.
By taking AP courses, students are preparing for the rigors of higher education and learn about subjects they are interested in to determine if they want to study them further. There is also a financial advantage to earning AP credits while in high school which helps students and families lessen the costs of higher education.
To be recognized as a Pacesetter Level 1 School, more than 30% of students at the school must take AP exams and more than 70% of those test-takers must receive a score of 3 or higher (students must receive a 3 or above to receive Advanced Placement credit).
