MADISON – Wisconsin Business World, an affiliate of WMC Foundation, announced the three winning students of its spring essay contest. The program, sponsored by ITU AbsorbTech, encourages middle and high school students to research and write about how a local business is a force for good within their community.
Brooke Tomsyck, a current sophomore at Kimberly High School, wrote one of the winning entries at the end of her freshman year. Brooke featured her family’s own business, Ice Cold Emergency, as an example of how local businesses are impacting their communities in a powerful way. “Winning this statewide contest is a proud and exciting moment for me”, explained Brooke. “It feels rewarding to know that my thoughts about our family business being a positive force in the community resonated with others. This recognition motivates me to keep exploring how businesses can create real, meaningful impact.”
“We want students to see the power of entrepreneurship and the free market right in their backyards,” said Senior Director of Wisconsin Business World Michelle Grajkowski. “Our companies do so much more than create a product; they invest in their communities through providing employment, philanthropy, education programs, and economic impact. Brooke, Julia, and Payton each captured these ideas in their essays, and we’re proud to award them a cash prize. Congratulations!”
