Mapleview Intermediate uses Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to improve the school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. PBIS includes school-wide procedures and processes intended for all students and staff in all settings. It is a team-based process for systemic problem solving, planning, and evaluation. This approach has created a safe and productive learning environment where teachers teach and all students learn with few disruptions.

The foundation of PBIS at Mapleview is a unified set of school rules based on three Bobcat expectations:

  • Respect
  • Kindness
  • Responsibility

These expectations are reinforced and consistent throughout all school environments. For example, hallways, playground, lunchroom, bathrooms and classrooms are indicated on the Mapleview Behavior Matrix. You will see these expectations posted throughout the school. Your child will learn these expectations during their first days at school and they will be reviewed throughout the school year.
