Instructional Considerations

Why online learning?

FLEXIBILITY - Online learning allows for students to flexibly schedule their time and workload.
RELEVANCY - Students gain experience using 21st-century technology tools used in college and in the workplace.
CHALLENGING BUT ACHIEVABLE - Online learning reinforces lifelong learning skills and promotes information literacy and communication skills as well as thinking and problem-solving skills.

Students enrolled in the KASD online program will primarily attend school online, following the established online program curriculum. There are three key questions to consider when deciding if online learning is best for your student:Group of students sitting on books

Check Mark Is your child able to work without adult support for the majority of the school day?
Check Mark Is your child able to advocate for themselves when they do need adult support?
Check Mark Is your child able to engage with lessons that are mainly text based?

Courses are primarily available in partnership with the Wisconsin eSchool Network (WEN), which is a collaborative network of online programs throughout the state of Wisconsin.  While not all current in-person classes are available online, courses are offered that fulfill all graduation requirements.  Electives are offered when possible.  Please see the course catalog for details.

Staffing will be a combination of current KASD staff and statewide staff.  Statewide courses are taught by teachers in other districts who are part of a consortium.
