Kimberly Students + Math Problem Contest = Success!

KHS Math Team

Students from J.R. Gerritts Middle School (JRG) and Kimberly High School (KHS) recently participated in the Mathematical Problem Solving Contest at UW-Oshkosh. JRG 7th graders included Brooklyn Van Gompel, Tucker LeClair, Aiden Newlin, Caleb Dorsey, Daichi Massey, and Brecken Ludeke. 8th graders included Noah Kluender, Grant Bates, Ian Featherstone, Aaryan Nanaware, Carly Poggemann, and Jason De la Masa. The JRG team took 1st place out of 38 middle school teams competing! A special congratulations goes out to Brooklynn VanGompel who placed 1st in the 7th grade individual competition, Grant Bates who placed 2nd in the 8th grade individual competition and Noah Kluender who received a 3rd place finish in the individual 8th grade competition.

JRG Math Team KHS received an school award for being the second highest scoring high school. The team of Jacob Behnke, Michael Gauthier, Benjamin Jesse, and Riley Matz were awarded a bronze medal in the team contest. Benjamin Jesse and Kennedy Klitzke had individual scores in the top ten percent of all sophomores. Riley Matz received a gold medal for the top sophomore score in the individual contest. Riley had one of the top three scores in the competition and qualified for a scholarship to attend UW Oshkosh. In addition to competing, the students attended STEM sessions and displays throughout the campus.
